We were told the mission

That's the point.
By 2047, when Pakistan turns 100, 169 people will travel beyond low Earth orbit, toward Mars, and come home. They'll fly on capability Pakistan helped create with global partners.
In all of history, 28 humans have travelled beyond low Earth orbit. The most recent four came home in April 2026. So 169 isn't catching up. It's a sixfold leap, with 21 years on the clock.

The leap, not the catch-up
01 · The first objection
Starting small has had
79 years.
The usual sequence is to fix the economy first, then the schools, then the institutions, and only then talk about ambition. That has been the plan since 1947, and the basics are still broken. At some point the strategy of starting small and waiting has to be named as part of the problem.
Pakistan's talent isn't in question. Pakistani engineers, doctors and founders work in every serious economy on Earth. The gap is a culture that circumstance trained to wait for the government, blame the system and survive the month.
That isn't who Pakistanis are. It's what circumstance taught, and what was taught can be unlearned. It has to be unlearned deliberately.

What PK2047 is
In 2024 we started PK2047, a citizen-led movement to make Pakistan the world's most entrepreneurial emerging nation by its centenary. We treat entrepreneurship as a national development strategy, not a startup activity. A civic duty!
What it isn't
Not a party. Not a charity. Not a motivational campaign.
What it is
We run pilots, build systems and publish roadmaps.

We chose it because it can't be faked. Closed-loop life support is unforgiving even at small scale. On the International Space Station, with a crew of around seven, NASA took more than two decades to reach 98% water recovery. At 169 people, small failures cascade. Food, water, oxygen, radiation shielding, medicine and waste processing all have to work, with spares for the spares.
And 169 people confined together for a long time form a small society under stress. At that point governance stops being an idea and becomes an operating system that either works or doesn't.
The private-space era shows the model. SpaceX and Rocket Lab cut the cost of reaching orbit by building privately while governments acted as anchor customers. PK2047 applies that model across many Pakistani companies rather than one. The state's role is customer and co-designer, not sole builder.

This was never Pakistan trying to do everything alone. The aim is capability developed in Pakistan that's good enough for the best builders on Earth to want in.
Pakistan has given the world talent for three generations. Now we want to give it something it has never had from us: frontier capability, built at home and shared with everyone serious about going further.

The rule: whatever we build has to serve a real need today. Water recovery for a spacecraft has to work for a Karachi neighbourhood first. The same goes for energy, robotics, healthcare, manufacturing, materials and disaster response. If a subsystem has no customer on Earth, it isn't ready to be worked on.
That rule keeps us honest, and it's how 21 years of this pays for itself. Start with the rocket and we fail. Start with talent, manufacturing, life support and governance, and the rocket becomes a byproduct.

Prove you can build.
Rocketathon is a build challenge where humans and machines build together. We run it with schools, polytechnics, universities, NGOs and companies that already have people ready to build, and each partnership is its own edition. You're graded on what you demonstrate, not what you pitch.
STAGE 02
The Rocket Guy Space
Become a founder.
Its Founder Mode Accelerator (FMA) takes ideas to commercial products. It also builds the founder through SMBTV: Soul, Mind, Body, Trust and Value. A strong product with a fragile founder doesn't last 21 years.
STAGE 03
PK2047 Labs
Build the mission.
Founders, students, graduates and researchers build the systems behind the 169 Mission, from life support and propulsion to health and governance. Many of the skills this needs aren't taught in Pakistan yet, so Labs works with institutions to create them as microcredentials. Builders who show they're ready on the day come here directly from Rocketathon.

If you're an institute, organisation or enterprise with people ready to build, we run an edition with you. We design the challenges and form multidisciplinary teams from every participant's FFI Diagnostic. We run the build and the grading, and we take the strongest builders onward.
